Just last week, after having created\n\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/zaimki.pl\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022 rel=\u0022noopener\u0022\u003E\u003Csvg class=\u0022icon\u0022\u003E\u003Cuse xlink:href=\u0022#light-link\u0022\u003E\u003C\/use\u003E\u003C\/svg\u003E zaimki.pl\u003C\/a\u003E and being featured in a\n\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/queer.pl\/artykul\/204685\/zaimkipl-strona-jezyk-polski-niebinarnosc\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022 rel=\u0022noopener\u0022\u003E\u003Csvg class=\u0022icon\u0022\u003E\u003Cuse xlink:href=\u0022#light-link\u0022\u003E\u003C\/use\u003E\u003C\/svg\u003E Queer.pl interview\u003C\/a\u003E,\nI went through the comments underneath and wept for humanity.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EPeople would start their comment with \u201cI\u0027m not an expert, but\u2026\u201d and end with\n\u201c\u2026creating neopronouns \/ neologisms is absolutely impermissible in linguistics!\u201d.\nPeople would \u003Cdel\u003Eread\u003C\/del\u003E see an article mentioning that one of the creators of the website is a professional\nEnglish-Polish translator, and then accuse the creators of not even knowing\nhow Polish and English are different or even that they belong to different groups of languages.\nSeriously.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd that\u0027s the kind of comments that bring absolutely no value.\nThey are a thing because of this stupid notion, that everyone\u0027s opinion is valid.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd it\u0027s not. If your knowledge of linguistics comes down to speaking your native tongue\nand having heard in school once about the existence of Slavic languages and Germanic languages\n\u2013 your opinion about language evolution will probably not be useful to\na professional translator or a finalist of a national linguistic competition, will it?\nIf you\u0027re a white, able-bodied straight cis man, your opinion on how minorities should behave\nand how we should fight for our human rights will probably not be too useful in the discussion, now will it?\nIf you haven\u0027t read and understood the original post, your comment below that post will probably suck, won\u0027t it?\nAnd so on, and so forth\u2026\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EBut I was taught toxic habits, so I kept answering those comments.\nI kept answering the guy who transparently was trying to destroy my project for a personal vendetta.\nI kept educating priviledged people that they don\u0027t have a say in the minorities\u0027 fight for equal rights.\nI kept re-writing points from the post for the people who clearly have not read it.\nI kept answering the guy who \u003Ca href=\u0022\/blog\/%C5%BCegnam-x\u0022\u003E\u003Csvg class=\u0022icon\u0022\u003E\u003Cuse xlink:href=\u0022#light-heartbeat\u0022\u003E\u003C\/use\u003E\u003C\/svg\u003E used the online comments to bully me in real life\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EReading what haters and know-better-than-the-experts have to say is hard emotional labour.\nAnswering them is even harder. It requires a lot of time and effort, and leaves you with ragged nerves.\nSome people clearly come to my mentions not to have a valid discussion or to share their point of view\n\u2013 they come specifically to waste my time. And I\u0027m so stupid to let them play their game\u2026\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EAnyways\u2026 a few years back I was really into making sure that everything I create has a comment section,\nthat I don\u0027t \u201ccensor\u201d any voices, don\u0027t ban any abusers, don\u0027t hide any homophobic slurs\u2026\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EBut now I don\u0027t care about that anymore.
